De Service Flight Training Schools (S.F.T.S.) behoorden tot het luchttrainingsprogramma van het Britse Gemenebest. Hier zijn meer dan 120.000 piloten, lucht- en grondpersoneel opgeleid voor de Canadese, Britse, Australische en Nieuwzeelandse luchtmacht tussen 1940 en 1945.
De SFTS in Aylmer was een van de 31 vliegscholen in Ontario (in heel Canada waren er 96) Het amateurfilmpje waarin de Hampden te zien is, werd gemaakt door Norman Irwin, commandant in Aylmer van juni 1941 tot juli 1943.
The Service Flight Training Schools (S.F.T.S.) were part of the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan, which graduated more than 120,000 pilots, aircrew and ground crew for the Canadian, British, Australian and New Zealand Air Forces between 1940 and 1945.
No. 14 S.F.T.S. Aylmer was among the 31 air training facilities located in Ontario, with a total of 96 across Canada. Norman Irwin of Whitby, Ontario, who shot the 16mm amateur footage of the Hampden, served as Commanding Officer at Aylmer from June 1941 to July 1943.
